Y7 Secondary Transfer September 2027:

North Somerset School Admissions have shared details of the application process for September 2027 transfer to Secondary school (please see letter below).  This has been sent home with your child at the start of September.

Applications close at 11:59pm on the National Closing Date, 31st October 2025. Please ensure North Somerset receive your completed application before the closing date.

Any applications that are received before the closing date have a higher chance of being offered a place at their preference schools than those received late. Before you complete your application form, please read the Parents’ Guide, which will also be available on the North Somerset Admissions website https://n-somerset.gov.uk/my-services/schools-learning/school-admissions/apply-school-place

SATs Revision Guides: Your child will be taking Key Stage 2 SATs tests - 10th-13th May 2027. A letter has been sent home with your child with more information.

In order to help prepare and support your child, we will be using the CGP SATs Busters books for homework. We've ordered these at a hugely discounted rate from CGP - please see letter below for more details. The Revision Guide bundle can be purchased through ParentPay.com 

FREE Bikeability Level 2 on-road training will be offered to Yr6 pupils in May 2027 (more details to follow in the Spring Term):

The training will be delivered by local provider Life Cycle.

Level 2 teaches children the skills and confidence to ride safely and independently on local roads. It's not a beginners’ course – children must already be able to ride a bike.

Places are limited. You will be sent details in March on how to book a place via their online consent form.

The children have been learning about the processes of evaporation, condensation and precipitation in science
to help them understand the water cycle. 
They then used this knowledge to write explanation texts in English. Here is some of their published work.

Explorer Dome Visit - Thursday 26th March:   Year 5 and 6 were visited by Explorer Dome. The children participated in an interactive science show led by the Explorer Dome presenters. The theme of the session was based on ‘environment’, linking to their current Biomes Geography topic.  The visit supports your child’s Geographical learning and provided them with an experience we would otherwise not be able to deliver.

Year 6 Educational Visit to Lifeskills Centre: The children enjoyed a visit to the Lifeskills Centre, Bristol on 12th February. This trip provided a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience real-life scenarios and think about how they would cope in these situations. 

Year 5 and 6 launched their History topic with a Victorian afternoon - October 2025:
Kingfishers, Ospreys and Puffins visited each class to take part in a Victorian experience, that helped to set the scene for their upcoming topic. The children took part in chronological activities with Mrs Emery, where they needed to order the Victorian time line, order and discuss Victorian inventions and how they are used and look today and also handle Victorian toys. With the use of AI and Mrs Read, the children were able to ask Queen Victorian questions about her reign to gain more information about this era. The quiz style recording was a competitive hit! The children were very excited to also experience a Victorian lesson with the very strict (only when pretending to be a Victorian!) Mr Feeley! They were told about Victorian classroom punishments (the dunce cap) and took part in some Victorian arithmetic and singing! The children had a fantastic afternoon, getting into the swing of everything Victorian!

Year 5 and 6 had an inspiring morning at their very own Careers Fayre on 10th September 2025. 
The children have been discussing about their future selves, and were able to talk to professionals about the amazing jobs they do. The children were able to learn so much from the people in their local area. Thank you so much to the wonderful people from SGS Sport, Avon and Somerset police, Herbs on the hill, GWR, Weston College, School Sports Teaching, The NHS, AI, Infinity Plumbing and cyber security who made this unforgettable day happen.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the morning and were very inspired.
