Year 6 Production - The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan
Both of these performances were fantastic. The acting, dancing, singing (including some impressive solos) was top class. Everyone enjoyed the show - even though some of the jokes made you groan. Our Year 6 children have shown how talented they are and how much they have grown up. Their confidence shone through. Thank you to all of the staff for their hard work and to parents and friends of the school for coming to watch and support the children.

Celebration of Learning Evening
Thank you to everyone who attended our special evening. The school looked amazing with all of the children's work on display. We were treated to performances by our Dance Club, the Year 4 Ukulele group and the Choir. The BBQ was popular as were the ice-creams. I would like to thank the staff and Governors for making the event possible.

Year 1 Plant Sale: Year 1 classes held a Plant Sale after school in the school hall this afternoon. They have been growing lots of different plants for this event. The Sale was very successful and we will let you know how much was raised. Worle Lions Club kindly donated £200 to St Martin’s, for Year 1 to purchase seeds and pots for this event. All profits raised from the Sale will go towards the sponsorship of a Guide Dog Puppy. Remaining unsold plants will be available to purchase at our Celebration of Learning Event on Tuesday 11th July - we look forward to seeing you there.

Year 4 Overnight Camp: On Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th June, 61 of our Year 4 children attended an overnight camp at Fernhill Farm. The event was a great success and the children enjoyed many different activities including: team building games; an assault course; a tour of the farm with farmer Andy; sat around the campfire and enjoyed hot chocolate with marshmallows and played wide games. They all had great fun sleeping in tents and enjoying the outdoors. Thank you to the staff who gave up their own time to take the children, also to both Matt, Mark and the rest of the team from Osprey for making the visit so enjoyable.

Collaboration Dance Festival
This afternoon we hosted a Dance Festival at which four of the six schools in our Kaleidoscope Collaboration each performed two dances to each other. Ashcombe, Hutton, Worle Village and of course St Martin's danced in a range of styles to different types of music. This was particularly special for our children because they did not get to perform their dance at the Playhouse a few weeks ago, due to it being evacuated because of a burst pipe. All schools were fantastic and the children were confident and enthusiastic.

This week the children in KS2 have taken part in Art Week. The 4 year groups were split across the ten classes and each experienced a different type of Art. All the children explored the work of artists and then created their own work based on the work they were shown. The final pieces look great and will be displayed during our Celebration of Learning Evening on Tuesday 11th July (more
information to follow).

Today, we were visited by Lucy and Grieg, from Google who wowed us with 'Google Expeditions'. Our children and staff wore headsets which enabled them to explore 3D worlds, visiting The Great Wall of China, underwater and space scenes and even a tour of the human body. This was a great day and our children really enjoyed the experience.

Reception Model Village
Our Reception Model Village opened today and a queue of parents/carers and grandparents were amazed how impressive it looked. The detail of the models and how hard the children have worked on them was really appreciated.

E-Safety 360 Quality Mark
On Friday 10th March, we were visited by an E-Safety Inspector. He reviewed all of our E-Safety curriculum, policies, systems and practice. He interviewed staff, children, parents and governors. I am delighted to say that after all of this, we successfully achieved the Quality Mark. Well done to everyone at school and particularly to Mr Ellis and Miss Jewell for their work in leading this area.
World Book Day
We have had a fantastic World Book Day, with lots of children dressing up as Where's Wally and other book characters. They enjoyed the competitions and other book related activities. It was also great that the staff joined in too. It was confusing with so many people dressed as Wally.

Year 3 Ancient Egypt Topic: The Year 3 children completed their Ancient Egypt Topic by holding an Ancient Egyptian Invention Exhibition in the School Hall. They created models, writing, hieroglyphics, persuasive videos and artwork as a culmination of a term of work on the civilization of Ancient Egypt. Visitors from across the St Martin's School Community were invited in to listen to children at the exhibition and browse the stalls before voting for their favourite stand, the winners of the stands receiving an exciting prize. Thank you to our parents/carers for such a good turn out.

Year 3 Book Launch
I was extremely impressed by our Year 3 children on Saturday when they held a book launch at Waterstones in Weston. The children were well behaved and were excited about the event. They even explained how they got their ideas and drafted their work to some members of the public. The staff at Waterstones were fantastic and really looked after us. A huge than you to the Year 3 Team for giving up their Saturday and making this possible.

This has been a fantastic but busy few weeks. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful Christmas performances from Reception, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4. The children sang, acted and performed readings confidently and enthusiastically. The children enjoyed their discos last night and they were treated to an amazing performance by staff today in our special Christmas assembly. All in all, we really celebrated Christmas in style. We would like to wish all of you a very merry Christmas.

Year 1 Christmas Production - Christmas Spells Christmas
Year 1 performed the first Christmas Productions at St Martin's today. Their acting, singing and reading of lines was wonderful. They looked great in their costumes too.

Our Christmas Fair was a huge success on Friday. The hall was packed and there were lots of activities in the classrooms. Father Christmas was busy writing down those very important Christmas lists. It was fantastic to see so many children, parents and friends of the school getting into the Christmas spirit. The cake stall was certainly popular as a wide variety of cakes were bought up quickly. We are lucky at St Martin's to have received such support from parents, staff and children who worked so hard to make the event possible and such a success. So many items were donated and made for us to sell. I will let you know how much we managed to raise later this week.
